Sermon Study - 1 Peter 4:1-6
“Armed for Righteousness” from 1 Peter 4:1-6. You can listen to the sermon here.
Sermon Review
We noted four truths from 1 Peter 4:1-6.
- Believers must be armed and ready to suffer.
- Believers must be armed to do God’s will.
- As Christians, we should expect to be treated as outcasts (because we are).
- Believers should live for the last day.
For Further Study
Throughout the letter, Peter has referenced the suffering of Christ as a key component of his teaching. Read 1 Peter 2:21-25 and 1 Peter 3:18-22 again, and answer the following questions:
- How does Christ’s suffering set an example for believers?
- How is Christ’s suffering unique?
- How does Christ’s unique suffering provide encouragement to suffering Christians?
For Personal Reflection
Take time this week to reflect on your life as a follower of Christ. Think through the following questions:
- By God’s grace, in what ways are living a distinctly Christian life?
- In what areas can you grow in exhibiting holy, honorable conduct?
- Confess to God any unrepentant sin and seek forgiveness in Christ.
- Meditate on your identity in Christ and how that identity is an encouragement to holiness.
