Sermon Study - 1 Peter 4:1-6

“Armed for Righteousness” from 1 Peter 4:1-6. You can listen to the sermon here.

Sermon Review

We noted four truths from 1 Peter 4:1-6.

  1. Believers must be armed and ready to suffer.
  2. Believers must be armed to do God’s will.
  3. As Christians, we should expect to be treated as outcasts (because we are).
  4. Believers should live for the last day.

For Further Study

Throughout the letter, Peter has referenced the suffering of Christ as a key component of his teaching. Read 1 Peter 2:21-25 and 1 Peter 3:18-22 again, and answer the following questions:

  1. How does Christ’s suffering set an example for believers?
  2. How is Christ’s suffering unique?
  3. How does Christ’s unique suffering provide encouragement to suffering Christians?

For Personal Reflection

Take time this week to reflect on your life as a follower of Christ. Think through the following questions:

  1. By God’s grace, in what ways are living a distinctly Christian life?
  2. In what areas can you grow in exhibiting holy, honorable conduct?
  3. Confess to God any unrepentant sin and seek forgiveness in Christ.
  4. Meditate on your identity in Christ and how that identity is an encouragement to holiness.
